Project Details

The Haus vision was first mentioned over a couple of beers, after a terrible game of indoor footy. Ryan Schutte explained his initial concept to his fellow team mate Kyran Aldworth. Kyran instantly bought into the vision and the two were on the same wavelength within a matter of minutes.

Ryan has always had a passion for working on a publication and has a magazine collection that clutters everything corner of his room. Kyran had great knowledge of design layout and also had the skills to stitch together a well presented website. The two both felt that South Africa had a gap in the market for a truly holistic publication that showcased local creativity.

The two set out to gather content and work on a magazine and blog layout to provide a platform that showcases local creatives. The overwhelming magnitude of the Haus project was initially unforseen and led to stagnation a couple weeks after the pair got the ball rolling.

Ryan tells us about the night that got Haus back on the road after a couple weeks of stagnation ; "It was a random Tuesday night and I got a phone call from Kyran at around eleven o'clock. He sounded really excited and I was half asleep. He told me that he had just chatted to an old friend who was just the guy we could use to help us with Haus. Kyran went on further to tell me about the ideas he came up with whilst chatting to this guy by the name of Kyle. Kyran's excitement was contagious and I was suddenly awake and fresh with rejuvenated motivation. Our call ended up going on for close to three hours. "

After that phone call Haus became a three piece act and had an exciting new member by the name of Kyle "Wabaki" Herbst.

A couple months thereafter and we are have proud to have you reading our first print. We encourage you to give us feedback and share content with us. This is the first of f our magazines that will be released per annum. More regular content will be uploaded on our blog so please go across and give it some love. We also strive to keep the design and layout of our publication touch-points clean and modern to ensure that it is a pleasure to read and experience.
